History of Sudwerk Brew
Sudwerk Privatbrauerei Hubsch was first conceived in 1989 by two business partners with strong Germanic roots and an equally strong love of beer. Both owners held a vision to create a local establishment that hosted the most authentic cuisines and fine-crafted German lager beers that the U.S.A had ever seen.
Dean F. Unger, a prominent Architect out of Sacramento, and Ronald Broward, a well-known Contractor based out of Davis, put their knacks for design and building to the test in order to construct their vision. First, however, the team took a resarch-based trip to Germany, visiting many brewhaus' and making several contacts along the way. Upon returning, the team concluded to name their restaurant Sudwerk Privatbrauerei Hubsch (literally translated as "privately controlled brewery that brews pretty beer"). The word "Hubsch" is German for "pretty," also the maiden name of Ron Broward's mother.
